If like us, you like your food, you’ll have probably heard that phrase ‘HFSS’ out and about; on the news, in the papers, on TV, in the shops… But what does it actually mean?

It’s the term given to products that are high in fat, sugar and/or salt – which are basically bad for our bodies if we eat too much of them. And there’s quite a few of them out there, so the temptation is real, right!?

To help reduce everyone's intake of this bad stuff, new rules are being brought in for both the HFSS brands and products and for the retailers that sell them too. So, instead of seeing big brightly coloured promos in stores, at till points or at the end of aisles, big shops will have to reconsider which products they promote and where – with the aim that only the health focused brands will be the most prevalent. Even TV advertising will have to ban any HFSS ads until after the 9pm watershed.
