Last week Mike headed over the North Sea to check out our newest stockist in sunny Amsterdam – one of Holland’s finest independent coffee chains, the Coffee Company.
Places like the Coffee Company, where you go to get a nice brew, are generally referred to as espresso bars rather than coffee shops, which are all together something quite different. Please try and remember this if you go to Amsterdam otherwise you might find it takes a bit longer to find your way back to the hotel.

Bas, the manager of the Coffee Company in Berenstraat Amsterdam, with some fine English mints and an even finer Dutch beard.
While he was out in Amsterdam Mike also got to enjoy Koninginnedag (Queen’s Day), Holland’s day of national celebration. Queen’s Day is held to celebrate the birthday of the late Queen Juliana (mother of the current monarch, Beatrice) and is all about being proud to be Dutch, donning your best orange outfit and partying the day away, preferably on a canal boat.

On Queen’s day everybody is orange (some more than others).
Just don’t forget to clear up in the morning.

It’s on April 30th every year. Highly recommended.
