24 May 2012
2012 is the year of companies milking all they can out of major sporting events, and as you can imagine, we couldn’t wait to jump on the bandwagon. We’re not quite ready for official sponsorship of the Big International Sports Thingamajig That We’re Not Allowed To Mention For Fear Of Having Our Pens And Pencils Confiscated.
Instead we opted for something lower-fi but much more us. So we’re proud to introduce our official sponsorship of the Team Friska cycling kit (there we are at the top of the back).

Friska are one of our favourite stockists and if you don’t know them, have a read of this and this and a watch of this. Not only are they great guys but they also share our love of cycling. They came up with the idea of doing their own cycling kit to sell and raise money for Frank Water. And when they asked us if we’d like to be part of it, we bunny hopped at the chance.
Here are Dan, Gracie and Dave modelling it (while managing to look like very unconvincing cyclists).

Here’s Dave and Dan in action (but not much action).

And here’s Gracie after cycling to the top of Hay Bluff in the Black Mountains. That’s more like it.

Sadly they’ve all sold out but they promise us more will be available soon. Watch this space.
Thanks very much to Friska for asking us if we’d like to get involved and to Torchy Design for designing the great kits.
4 May 2012

When we began this journey, if someone had told us one day we’d be stocked in the world’s largest greenhouse, we’d probably have thought they were pulling our doo-da. But here we are, in May 2012 and our mints and gum are now available at the Eden Project in Cornwall; the biggest greenhouse there is, anywhere, ever.
Mike (along with Mrs Mike aka Lou and Baby Mike aka Leo) headed down there to have a look around and meet some of their team. Here he is with Justine, Andrew and Paul in front of the famous Biomes.

They had a great time and would highly recommend a visit. And in the meantime, here are some little known facts about the Eden Project to get you in the mood…
- It’s the third most popular charging tourist attraction in the UK.
- It’s built in a 60 metre deep, 15 hectare disused China clay quarry.
- Before they started, the area was sterile wasteland so they had to devise a special ‘recipe’ and make 85,000 tonnes of soil.
- In 2003, their toilets won the Best Loo in Britain Award. According to Mike they’re still in pretty good nick (8.5/10 – the half is for the eco-friendly hand dryer selection).
- Planning permission for the Eden Project demands that at least 20% of visitors don’t arrive by car.
- The largest Biome is 50 metres high and big enough to house the tower of London.
- The Tropical Biome contains fruiting banana trees, coffee, rubber and giant bamboo but was sadly a little bit hot for four-month old baby Leo.
Get down there, it’s well worth the trip. And don’t forget to pick up some mints while you’re there.
