A Meeting to Relish

28 March 2010

Adam in Tossed with some Peppersmith

This is Adam. He was buying a pack of Peppersmith in Tossed salad bar when our Ed bumped into him. As you can imagine this made our day. Very dapper and very friendly, Adam said he hadn’t been this excited about food since he ‘accidentally discovered The Angler’s Relish in the basement of Fortnum’s’. High praise from a very fine man.

In other news we’re very happy to announce that you can now find us in Planet Organic stores and even happier that they’ve started selling packs on their website. Just visit planetorganic.com/peppersmith

The Daily Grind

14 March 2010

Whilst out and about, we have started to notice a growing trend amongst the independent coffee shops in London – the flat white. What is a ‘flat white’ you ask? We are trying to get the bottom of it and one man who seems to know his onions is David Dickinson (not the antiques expert), owner of Grind coffee bar in Putney.

David, originally from New Zealand,  has just opened his coffee shop which he runs with his wife. When we popped round for a chat, David explained how to make a flat white; everything from grinding the beans, to steaming the milk to the perfect temperature and layering it into the right size cup.

Barista Dave takes Mike and Ed through the
science of the Flat White

There is a real coffee revolution going on in London, with a select crowd of independent coffee shops making their mark. As well as Grind, we highly recommend Dose, The Espresso Room, Taylor St. Baristas, Fix Coffee and Prufrock (home of World Barista of the Year, Gwilym Davies)

Other than fantastic coffee and passionate Baristas who know their latte macchiatos from their espresso romanos, all of these places now stock Peppersmith. If you want to taste some of the best Coffee in London and get to the bottom of what really makes a Flat White so great, swing by any of the above and don’t forget to pick up some Peppersmith gum for some natural post coffee refreshment.

Perfect Bedfellows – High End Coffee and High End Gum

If your local purveyor of espresso doesn’t yet sell Peppersmith, please drop us a line at chewthecud@peppersmith.co.uk and we’ll do our very best to get it on the shelves.

Sampling for Beginners

5 March 2010

Tools of the Trade (note the green tongs)

This week we have been talking to more people about our chewing gum and getting them to sample it, so they could have that all important first chew.

Dave and Ed went along to As Nature Intended in Balham armed with lots of gum, some funny green serving tongs, a pile of booklets, some badges and a load of Peppersmith disposal papers.

All in all it was a success and we now have lots of Balham dwelling Peppersmith converts and even managed to impress a couple of Chicle experts from Columbia. After he had cleared up, a weary but happy Ed said “it was really nice to talk to loads of people and get them to understand what is so special about our gum”. This is just as well as we will be doing more of the same at the As Nature Intended Ealing store on Monday and the one in Chiswick next Friday. Please pop by for a chat between 11-3 if you are in the area.

Have a good weekend.
